Jenson Button concedes that Lewis Hamilton will be the only British driver lining up the Silverstone grid who stands a chance of winning the race.
Sunday's British GP will see three local drivers competing in the grand prix, Button, Hamilton and David Coulthard.
However, only one stands a realistic chance of fighting for the race win - last year's pole sitter and eventual third-placed finisher Hamilton.
"You always want to do well at your home grand prix and we might get some points, which will be a big bonus," Button told Reuters.
"But I'm going to have to leave it to Lewis to fight for the victory."
Button, though, is still hoping to at least finish in the points, something he has struggled to do at home in recent years.
"The last two years there have been pretty tough," said the Honda driver.
"I had a problem with the engine in 2006 and last year we just weren't quick enough basically, so this year I just want to get some points at my home grand prix."
