Twenty-two-year-old British driver Paul di Resta is to test with McLaren for four days.
Di Resta has impressed a lot of people while driving for Mercedes-Benz in this season in Germany's DTM series. He is currently just two points leader Timo Scheider with one round remaining.
The Scot will be behind the wheel of the McLaren at Silverstone on Tuesday and Wednesday and will get another opportunity on October 20-21.
Di Resta, who won the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award in 2004, recently told The Sun: "It is difficult for a driver to accept that he has no chance to get into F1 - and I hope I don't have to.
"My job is just to do the best I can. I am trying my hardest and hopefully they will come knocking on the door or give me a phone call.
"But for now it is up to me to concentrate on the DTM. The powers-that-be at Mercedes have looked after me and I am sure they will continue to look after me."

"That is the point isn't it ElvisBeavis ? They don't want someone better than the Z list Heikki, or Hamilton will throw his toys out the pram again."

"He couldn't do worse than Heikki surely. I think even Sakon Yamomoto would achieve more than Heikki in the Mclaren. "
