If Sebastien Bourdais thought his performance at the Belgian GP secured him a race seat at Toro Rosso next season he will be disappointed.
The Frenchman was on course for a podium finish at Spa when the heavens opened up. He eventually settled for seventh place.
After the race Bourdais told Autosport: "I think what's important for me is that I proved my point was valid - when I can get comfortable in the car I can get the job done."
However, Toro Rosso co-owner Gerhard Berger says it is important that Bourdais follows up his performance in Spa with another good showing at Monza this weekend.
"We are not in a hurry to make any decision. Let's see in Monza and then see. If he drives like here (Spa) then fine," the Austrian told Autosport.
"He did a great race. If he could continue like this, it would be fantastic," Berger added.
