Sebastien Bourdais hopes his performance at the Belgian Grand Prix has silenced calls for him to be dropped by Toro Rosso at the end of the season.
The Frenchman is under pressure after being outshone by team-mate Sebastian Vettel throughout the season.
However, he put in a strong showing at Spa and was on course for a podium before the weather gods intervened and forced him to settle for seventh place.
The 29-year-old admits he has been struggling to come to grips with the STR3, but believes he has proved his point.
"I'm just doing the job the best I can and I've done so since the beginning of the season," he told Autosport.
"I think what's important for me is that I proved my point was valid - when I can get comfortable in the car I can get the job done. But unfortunately with the STR3 it has been very difficult for me and it's just the way it is. It's the team's decision and I will respect whatever they decide to do."
Bourdais says going from third place to seventh in the space of a few laps "really sucks".
"It was just basically exactly what I was anticipating because I could see the weather getting really dark and I knew it was the worst case scenario for me. Then it's how much risk you are willing to take.
It's not that I didn't want to take them; it's just that I couldn't really afford to take them. After such a great race it really sucks to be in this position."

"Never had any doubt on the talent of Bourdais from the time I saw him racing Champ Cars. I always knew that he would take time to adjust to F1 but was surprised to see him finish scoring points in Aussie. This probably is his true potential. He should be given another chance in F1. "

"Ok, you're being corrected, Speed never scored a point for STR, Liuzzi scored 4, not amazing I admit, but still. In 2007 Speed retired from more races than he finished and was then dropped, Liuzzi went on to finish 6th in China behind Vettel in 4th. It's hard to see Scott Speed managing that, in tricky conditions too."

" some body correct me here... but i am pretty sure Speed had a MUCH better record in F1 race for rae than Liuzzi.... but i wil lsay it appeared neither of them got much reall support or confidence from their team almost as it they felt they were stuck with these drivers due to the RB connection.... regardless of whether there were any better drivers inteh RB drivers foodchain moving up... Speed > Luizzi. "
