Davidson: I can do a better job than Badoer

Monday 24th August 2009

Anthony Davidson is planning to get into contact with the Ferrari bosses over the next few days to discuss the possibility of replacing the unimpressive Luca Badoer.

Italian Badoer made a disastrous return to Formula One this weekend in Valencia, starting last on the grid and finishing 17th in the race. He also received several fines for speeding in the pit lane and was also handed a drive-through penalty for touching the white line while exiting the pits.

Ferrari have already hinted that they may replace the 38-year-old if he doesn't perform better at the Belgian Grand Prix.

Davidson, whose F1 career was cut short after Super Aguri decided to withdraw from F1 at the end of the 2008 season, believes he could do a better job than Badoer.

"I will be speaking to Ferrari personally this week to put my name forward," the Englishman, who currently operates as Brawn GP's reserve driver, is quoted in The Telegraph. "Luca was not anywhere near scoring points and that car is capable of doing that.

"I'm ready and I think I'm better. That's not being arrogant. It's just what I believe. I've got the necessary experience that I'll get my chance in Formula One - so why not at Ferrari?"

"I'd put him in, without hesitation. He's a lot faster than his Super Aguri would let on and Badoer is darn near unsafe. "

"Well senna27 don't let me hold you back if you need to resort to that sort of vocabulary in order to express yourself; clearly you are unable to make much sense in ordinary everyday English. Read your response to me once again and then finally realise that you've completely missed the point of what I was saying. And by the way, I'm not your matey."

"As i said 'tonto' your name says it all. If you had bothered to read my comment, u'd see that it has nothing to do with Davidson's skill as a driver, as i am also quite sure he would do a fine job, my guess he would of definitely been top 8 at least. Doesnt change the fact he has killed his career in F1 with those comments"

"deepwater330: To ensure I don't get banned from the site I'll just call you a "silly, blinkered little sausage" - but the words I would've liked to describe you with begin mostly with "f"s and "c"s. How did you get so deluded about Ferrari being sentimental and having a 'depth of culture'?? I could list the cases against for a week matey - hounding Ron Dennis out of the sport, denigrating Ross Brawn in Court, sacking triple WC Prost, happily winning races/Championships by condoning Schumacher's cheating (Monaco and Australia [twice] to name but a few), colluding with the FIA to outlaw tyres/mass damping mid-season, insisting on a veto to shape the rules to sit their designs, etc. Depth of culture my lillywhite a**e "
