Heikki wants points as he looks to secure his future

Heikki Kovalainen is chasing a top-eight finish this weekend in Abu Dhabi as he looks to secure his place on the 2010 grid.

With the season coming to an end this weekend, Kovalainen's future remains uncertain as his current team McLaren have made it clear that they are looking elsewhere for a new team-mate for Lewis Hamilton.

And while other drivers have been linked to teams in the press, Kovalainen has yet to publicly catch the eye of a rival outfit.

The Finn, though, must be hoping that a good result in Abu Dhabi will secure him a place on the 2010 grid, either with McLaren or with another team.

Added to that, the battle between McLaren and Ferrari for third place in the Constructors' Championship continues this weekend with Kovalainen intent on helping his team achieve their goal.

"I had a very strong race in Brazil and I'm determined to rack up a points finish in Abu Dhabi to make sure we hold on to third position in the Constructors' Championship," he said.

"From what I've seen of the track, it looks pretty good - it's got a couple of fast corners at the start of the lap, but then there's a real low-speed, technical section towards the end.

"It still looks like it will be a tough track for overtaking, but the facilities look amazing - totally world-class - and I think the idea of a dusk race is very good for our sport.

"Singapore has set the standard very high with its night race, but Abu Dhabi looks like it will set new standards in Formula 1. I can't wait to get out there."
