@davratta there is no "new stadium section" in hockenheim, the end of the lap has always been like that...
low_flying_kiwi: They did that already.........
The blast around the forest has been missed but let's be honest this track is probably one of the best for actual racing and that forgotten phenomenon of overtaking!
It far from the worse track on the calendar, some of the drama queens posted here need to be reminded of that. Agreed its a shadow if the former track but still is a good track none the less.
DENDECTIS is spot on - yes the old track was a wonderful track but most of the races at the new Hockenheimring have been simply excellent. 2004 and Jenson fighting up from 13th to 2nd particularly sticks in the memory - especially his titanic tussle with Alonso for 3rd.
The truncated Hockenheim has a NASCAR feel to it. That "new" stadium section in particular looks like a segment of many super-speedways. Who says the fans on hand have to be able to see the whole track ?
Valencia, Singapore, Chima, Barcelona, Bahrain....just some of the circuits that help me sleep better :( The thing about the old Hockenheim was it was different. I bet the drivers liked the challenge of another kind of racing as well. Wait till they cut Spa in half, then we can all really cry
What's all of this nonsense people talking about the new track being a dud? have you folks even watched a race at the new hockenheimring? It has been littered throughout with thrilling battles and more than once we have been treated to side by side runs out of the hairpin and down 3-4-5 corners later! I agree the old ring was devastatingly fast and impressive to see, but this is one of the very few tracks that Tilke has gotten right. The racing (you know...the reason why you watch when you all aren't too busy whinging...) has been amazing. Save your whining for Valencia. now THERE is a boring track
I really miss the old Hockenheim. It's long straights out into the forest were 'o' for aweseome (kiwi in joke). Sure it wasnt great for fans at the circuit but as most fans watch F1 on tv, who cares.
I want to watch the cars do the full Nurburgring damn it!
Sadly, the writting was on the wall for this once great track when the circuit was modified a few years back,Hockenheim is not the circuit it once was.
Ever since they cut the main part out of this once magnificent circuit its been a dud.Bye bye Hockenheimring.
Hockenheim, Schmockenheim! How mundane is all this now that the shennanigans between Monte and Max are over. Bad timing I say. They should have at least dragged it out to just before the next race, now we have to settle for the boring regular racing stuff. We the fans should sue the FIA and FOTA for lack of entertainmaent between races.

DANDECTIS, i totally agree, if you see the way the cars behave on the track, its thrilling to watch!, i know what everyone is on about with the old section, it was awesome to see the cars run down through the forest, but its gone now, but we still need to keep some of the sense of the history of this sport, and by taking F1 away from places like this, and replacing them with races in the desert, night races in Singapore, street races in Valencia, it ends more like Gran Turismo than F1!
